Robert H. Scott, age 74, of West Stockholm and Colton, NY passed away on May 11, 2017 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT surrounded by his loving family. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-7pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 11 am at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam with Rev. Stephen Rocker celebrant. Military honors will follow the funeral mass outside of church. Contributions can be made in his memory to the West Stockholm First Responders Unit in...

Robert H. Scott, age 74, of West Stockholm and Colton, NY passed away on May 11, 2017 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT surrounded by his loving family. Bob grew up the youngest of six kids on the Scott Family Farm on the South Canton Road, Potsdam. He later graduated from Potsdam Central School in 1962. He then very proudly entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. Bob attended SUNY Canton form 1965 - 1966. He married the love of his life Janice (David) Scott of Ogdensburg at Notre Dame Church on May 20, 1966. Bob worked at Potsdam Welding for several years as a draftsman before establishing his career at Alcoa, retiring in 2001 as a Senior Designer. He was known by many as "Scotty."
Bob is survived by his wife of almost 51 years Janice D Scott his children; Cassie & Randy Reagan, Robert Jr. & Shelia Scott, Meaghan & Rob Voss and Richard & Debra Scott, his grandchildren Alexandria (Kyle Laughlin) and Victoria Reagan (Nathan Lint), Abigail and Robert Scott III, Cheyne (Nathaniel Perkins), Maisie and Robert Scott Voss and Olivia, Tyler and Jordyn Scott. A brother Alton, and countless in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was predeceased by his infant daughter Carrie Ann on November 16, 1968; his parents Lauren and Ann Scott; brothers Lauren Jr. and Jack Scott, sisters Mary Bunstone and Lorraine Jones and many in laws and close friends.
Bob was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was happiest watching them play sports and being involved in all aspects of their lives. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to drive. He loved hockey trips, Fox News, Gennesee Beer, Suduko, Politics, family gatherings, agitating family, hunting season with Steve and Darrell, and above all spending time with family and friends.
Bob was a lifetime member of the Potsdam Elks Lodge, member of the VFW, West Stockholm Volunteer Fire Dept., served as Stockholm Town Councilman for several years and was a volunteer driver for DAV (Disabled American Veterans) for many years.
